Today I have exciting updates to share about the My Cousin Jane podcast, a title reveal for the sequel to Half Worlder, and updates on other works in progress 🎉.
My Cousin Jane
The My Cousin Jane Podcast is very much a passion project for me. (aka a project that doesn’t pay the bills 💸)
Unfortunately, that means when life gets busy and I have to triage things to put on pause, MCJ tends to be high on the list.
However, I’m happy to say that due largely to a change in employment last month, I now have plenty of time to continue work on my favorite podcast (along with many other creative endeavors).
And so, Season 02 Episode 10 has just been released, with several more episodes in the queue 🎉.
As an aside, I also hope that this episode marks the last time I have to explain the rules of a Regency card game during a podcast episode ♠️.
A huge thanks to everyone who has continued listening to the podcast over the years, and especially to those of you who have reached out with words of encouragement and donations.
Half Worlder Sequel
I published Half Worlder in 2013 while our family lived in the UK 🇬🇧.
As a fun fact, I wrote almost all of it in twenty-minute bursts while riding the bus to and from the research institute where I was working at the time.
Since then, several readers have asked me if there was going to be a sequel.
There were a few unanswered questions in Half Worlder that people wanted answers to. In particular, readers wanted to know what happened between Kristin and her father after everything she learned from Director Farchild.
Happily, after a few false starts, earlier this year I finally came up with a plot for the next chapter in the lives of Kristin and her friends 🚀.
The sequel is titled: Youth Envoy and it will be the second in what is now collectively called the Youth Ambassador Series.
The first draft is about 20% complete, and I hope to have it finished by late summer.

Science Fictioned Vol. 2
If you’re not familiar with my Science Fictioned series, it’s a short story collection that teaches young people the science behind cutting-edge research papers, and then presents a short story based on that science 🧪.
I’m hard at work finishing Science Fictioned Volume 2 and hope to have it sent off to my editor sometime in early Fall.
Science Fictioned is a fun and educational read, enjoyed by homeschoolers and public school teachers alike 🎓.

As I mentioned previously, my recent change in employment has left me with lots of time to work on content creation 🎉.
Aside from the two books I mentioned, I also have three other books in various stages of revision, which I’m in the process of finishing.
Speaking of books, last summer I built a little lending library for the kids in our neighborhood to be able to share books.
One day I was adding some books and shuffling things around when I came across this touching review left by one of the neighbor kids 🥲:
I’ve been extremely blessed that I have been able to pivot this year to spending more time writing and podcasting.
It’s long been a dream of mine to be able to do this full-time, and while I’m not quite there yet, the future looks bright ☺️.
A huge thanks to everyone who has reached out in support over the years. None of this would be possible without all of you 🙏🏼.
Here’s to hoping that 2023 will continue to bring great things.
