Thank you for developing this app for the Iphone. The format is uncluttered and easy to read. That's appreciated since cluttered pages are getting harder to read as I get older. It's very handy to always have the scriptures with me and find myself reading them more often because of it.

BTW I have no problem paying for this and other LDS likes this and will be making a donation.

I hope to see more.

Wow, you really are a good soul! I wrote a review on Michael's app smashing his and praising yours. After reading your blog, I am going to re-write my review of his app to give it a more kinder and appropriate review. (thanks for the opportunity to self-evaluate) I stumbled on to your blog trying to find a paypal donation link, but will donate to the P.E.F. instead. (As you requested) Thanks for your work! May you and your family be blessed!

"The Church has no ETA as to when they plan on granting permission." - Chuck

The Church needs to get a *lot* more progressive about technology and stop all the foot dragging. A couple of years ago I contacted their media department and offered (for free) to do bookmarkable AAC conversions of their MP3-based audio scriptures for all the LDS iPod users out there. After some emails back and forth (that began positively), they just stopped responding. Yep, I'd hit the typical (and infamous) IT stonewall.

It should not be this way.

BTW Chuck, I eagerly await your native scriptures app.

I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding of copyright law is that only the date of initial publication is used for the duration, not the date of subsequent editions.

Great job on the app. I love the search feature.

Just want to give you a heads up -- something I've run into in while researching copyright for an application that a friend and I are writing:

Only the pre-1982 Book of Mormon text is in the public domain. The scriptures from MDP, contrary to popular belief, are not in the public domain and require permission in order to use them. The chapter headings, intro pages, footnotes, etc are not in the public domain either.

We've developed an app that we can't distribute because the Church has yet to grant permission. The Church has no ETA as to when they plan on granting permission.

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for creating the scriptures application. It is awesome so far. I also have to say that I love your attitude about the church, "competition", and other things in general. I'm seriously impressed.
