Polarian Screen Mimic 1.0 released!
December 8th, 2005My newly formed Macintosh software company, Polarian has just released Screen Mimic 1.0! A desktop screen recorder for Mac OS X that records to Macromedia Flash (SWF) format.
From the press release.
Screen Mimic is designed for recording demonstrations of software applications, creating web-ready walkthroughs of complicated tasks and more.
Screen Mimic 1.0 lets you capture a selected area of the screen, a particular window region or the entire desktop.
There is a free demo that you can get from here that allows for recording up to 15 seconds worth of content.
There was so much more I wanted to put into version 1.0, but my self-imposed deadline had arrived. Check it out and let me know what you think.
That looks very nice. I guess this explains why you have been so quiet. Congratulations!
This app looks great — simple and sweet. Is there a way to add audio to the flash movies?
Jim - There isn’t currently a way to add audio through Screen Mimic, though it is something that I’m working on heavily for the next version.
Scott - Thanks, it has been a long road, but well worth it. We had our first sale this morning at about 2:30 AM (from Germany) and I was ecstatic.
How is this better or different than Snapz Pro 2?
I know it’s a lower price point, but what else?
That’s a pretty popular app in this space, and you’ll profit by making clear how your app compares.
Jeremy - Snapz Pro records to QuickTime format. Screen Mimic records to Macromedia Flash (SWF) format.
